Description

Argus 35mm coat rangefinder camera. Known as 'Brick' The Argus C3 was a low-priced rangefinder camera mass-produced from 1939 to 1966 by Argus in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. The camera was the choicest-selling 35mm camera in the world for nearly three decades, and helped popularize the 35mm format. Due to its control, size, and weight, it is commonly referred to as "The Brick" by photographers (in Japan its nickname translates as "The Lunchbox"). The most famed 20th century photographer who used it was Tony Vaccaro, who employed this model during World War II (see under Legendary Patrons in this article). The C3 was constructed primarily of Bakelite plastic and metal castings. The mould featured an unusual and simplistic diaphragm shutter built into the camera body, so the camera could toady up to use of interchangeable lenses without the need for a complex focal plane shutter. The rangefinder utilized a divide up viewfinder from that of the regular viewfinder and was coupled to the lens through a series of gears located on the casing of the camera body. The profusion of knobs, gears, buttons, levers, and dials on the camera lent it a "painstaking" look that was found in customer surveys to be one of the things buyers most liked about the camera.

This Pal camera is in excellent condition. The shutter fires and the lens is clean and clear. The rangefinder functions decorously and the camera is clean. The case does show some signs of age.

I've seen argus cameras in the stores but i thirst for to get a camera for cheap but i don't know whether it's good quality. Otherwise i'll get a sony or polaroid

Sony is far cured Polaroid is also a little better.

ARgus is like the Polariod OFF brand, their CONCORD, which is a dreadful...

A week or so ago, I bought a film over camera (it takes 35mm) called the "argus c3". The woman I bought it from didn't separate much about photography so she gave me a manual. The manual doesn't help much, to say the least. I'd actually like to know how to get this camera working. (It hasn't been used for at least a decade.) I have videotape,
